Haiti and Project MediShare Presentation
3:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, September 14, at 3:30 p.m. in the Rogers Center, Dr. Fournier will join us at Merrimack to speak about the reality of Haiti before, during, and after the earthquake.

“The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari”
Live music by Devil Music Ensemble
7:00 p.m.

In this silent, classic example of early German expressionism, this cinematic landmark relates the stylized tale of a Dr. Caligari, a fairground showman who hypnotizes an innocent villager--turning him into a sleepwalking "zombie"-- and compelling him to carry out fiendish murders.
Devil Music Ensemble (DME) began in 1999 as a tool to explore as many facets of musical performance as possible. In its short history, the DME has been a rock trio, an Eastern European folk band, a 40-piece modern orchestral ensemble, a country music review, a house band for live theater, and its most recent incarnation, performing original  soundtracks for silent film.  The DME is based in Boston Mass., a city that has provided this group the possibility of so many different performance situations.

The Spencers: "Theatre of Illusion"
7:30 p.m.

“Theatre of Illusion” is a spectacular production filled with never-before-seen-illusions.

The Onstagers Dramatic Society of Merrimack College presents “Moon Over Buffalo” by Ken Ludwig

Charlotte and George Hay, an acting couple not exactly the Lunts, are on tour in Buffalo in 1953 with a repertoire consisting of “Cyrano de Bergerac” "revised, one nostril version" and Noel Coward's “Private Lives.” This backstage farce by the author of “Lend Me a Tenor” brought Carol Burnett back to Broadway co-starring with Philip Bosco as her megalomanic, drunken husband and leading man. Fate has given these thespians one more shot at starring roles in “The Scarlet Pimpernel” epic and director Frank Capra himself is en route to Buffalo to catch their matinee performance. Will Charlotte appear or run off with their agent? Will George be sober enough to emote? Will Capra see “Cyrano,” “Private Lives” or a disturbing mixture of the two? Hilarious misunderstandings pile on madcap misadventures in this valentine to Theatre Hams everywhere.
"Hilarious ... building up its laughs methodically shtick by shtick.... Ludwig stuffs his play with comic invention, running gags ... and a neat sense of absurdity.... Go and enjoy."-N.Y. Post

The Makem and Spain Brothers
7:30 p.m.

Returning to the Rogers Center for the Arts by popular demand are the Makem and Spain Brothers.
Every generation has a few acts that define where a musical genre is going, performers so confident in their chosen field that they are able to completely embrace the genre and yet introduce something new to it. In Irish folk music today, that act is the Makem and Spain Brothers.
Not in the past 30 years has a group taken the international stage with such vocal power and stage presence, capturing the essence of their genre, while standing out as something truly unique. A host of various instruments and five male vocals, using precise three-part harmonies blend perfectly for what many have described as a wall of sound. The Makem and Spain Brothers are at their best on stage where their talent and enthusiasm draw in fans who have never experienced the joy of folk music.
The Makem Brothers, Shane, Conor, and Rory, were born in Drogheda, County Louth, about an hour north of Dublin.  They continue the lineage of one of Irish music’s dynasties, begun by their grandmother Sarah Makem, who was sought after by song collectors for her store of traditional Irish songs.  Their father is Tommy Makem, the modern-day “Bard of Armagh.”  Now considered an icon, he helped to bring Irish music out of the corner and into the international spotlight, where it has remained ever since.
Come, Celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day with the Makem and Spain Brothers in concert.

Colonial Chorus Players present “Jekyll and Hyde”

An evocative tale of the epic battle between good and evil, Jekyll & Hyde is based on Robert Louis Stevenson's classic story about a brilliant doctor whose experiments with human personality create an evil and murderous counterpart. Convinced the cure for his father's mental illness lies in the separation of Man's evil nature from his good, Dr. Henry Jekyll unwittingly unleashes his own dark side, wreaking havoc in the streets of late 19th-century London as the savage, maniacal Edward Hyde.  ”Jekyll & Hyde” is pure, pulse-pounding theatre, with a lush, romantic pop score hailed as a modern classic even before the show began its smash-hit Broadway run.
