Class of 2009
Business

From the moment Sara Brothers set foot on Merrimack's campus, “I knew this was where I belonged,” she says.  “The people were so friendly and welcoming, and the dean of the Business School talked a lot about Merrimack helps you get a better education through experience.”

As Sara soon discovered, students gain experience at Merrimack through classroom projects, community service, internships, and research.   “It's pretty rare for any of my professors to just give a lecture,” she explains.  “Class is fun, because we have a lot of small group discussions and one-on-one interactions with our professors.  Plus, they give you projects that directly relate to what's happening in the world today.”

Probably Sara's favorite thing about Merrimack, though, is the Cooperative Education Program.  In her current co-op position as a sales and marketing assistant for Dynamic Research Corporation, “I've done a lot of cool things,” she says, like preparing sales orders, working on a company newsletter, and handling direct mail projects.

“The Co-op program is a great way for you to use what you learn in class on the job,” she says.

This year, Sara received an achievement award for excellence in the workplace.  “It's a nice feeling to know that I've been useful, while at the same time I've learned so much,” she says. “I feel  more prepared for the future because of my opportunities at Merrimack.”
