Faculty Profile

Michael Bradley (professor) received a B.A. in mathematics from Merrimack College (’78) and an M.A. and Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Notre Dame (’80, ’83). His research interests are algebraic geometry, mathematics education, and the history of mathematics. He has written three textbooks that have been used at Merrimack College during the past 18 years. His set of five books titled “Pioneers in Mathematics” that profile the lives and work of 50 famous mathematicians have been translated into Korean, Chinese, and Japanese.

During his 26 years on the department’s faculty Dr. Bradley has taught 30 courses in math and computer science. His recent courses include Discrete Mathematics, Combinatorics and Graph Theory, Calculus, and Statistics. In 2001 he received the college’s Edward G. Roddy Outstanding Teacher Award.

He is the faculty advisor to the Merrimack College Math Team, a group of students who compete in intercollegiate problem-solving competitions and run the annual Merrimack College Math Contest. During the summers, he enjoys doing mathematical projects with high school students in the college’s Accept the Challenge Program and conducting workshops for high school math teachers.
