Sakowich Campus Center
At the Heart of it All
Much more than a building, the Gladys Sakowich Campus Center at Merrimack College is the heart of campus life. Its very design brings all members of the Merrimack community together in the Augustinian tradition where they can share, discuss and collaborate, both formally and informally.
A Place to See and Be Seen
The 130,000 square foot building majestically stands as the centerpiece of the Merrimack campus. Its glass walls and many windows make it easy to see inside and just as easy for all inside the Center to look out on all parts of the campus.
Three lanterns atop the building bring light into the Sakowich Center during the day and illuminate the campus at night, a symbol of Merrimack’s commitment to intellectual and spiritual enlightenment in all aspects of the student experience.
Its “Main Street” open walkways connect students from residence to academic areas of campus. From “Main Street,” students, faculty and staff have access to a variety of comfortable and inviting lounges, dining areas, and events happening in the Center’s Anthony Sakowich Recreation Complex.
Opportunities Abound
Each day, when the Sakowich Center opens, opportunities to come together and interact await all members of our community. All students, both resident and commuter, as well as faculty and staff, have the opportunity to gather to exchange ideas, participate together in events, or share a meal.
The Center complements the academic experience through an extensive variety of cultural, educational, spiritual, social and recreational programs. Home to student government and more than 40 clubs and organizations, the Center is a stimulating and supportive atmosphere of cultural and diverse happenings.
For Students By Students
The facilities and activities of the Sakowich Center offer first-hand experience in citizenship and educate students in leadership social responsibility and values. Fifty-five students help manage and operate the building, working as building managers, at the information desk and in the Anthony Sakowich Recreational Complex.
