History and Overview

This initiative was born out of Center Director Padraic O’Hare’s participation in the remarkable conference, " A Call To Action: Preventing Genocide In Our Time ," held on Friday, March 18, 2005 at Salem State College.

The purpose of this website is to encourage the introduction of this educational practice into a broad spectrum of courses conducted at Merrimack College, and hopefully beyond. 

The elemental horror of genocide and the corresponding fundamental claims it makes on moral agents, all of us, is such that professors across disciplines may find a justification for introducing this assignment and embedding it in the requisites for successfully completing the courses in which the students are engaged.

The Center for the Study of Jewish-Christian Relations is providing this resource to universalize access to the project for the obvious reason that the contemporary repair of these relations rests on revelation of the Holocaust (Shoah), taking effective responsibility for it, and extending the lessons learned, and the hearts moved, to act against other such assaults on human dignity.
