Job Description:

The Director of the Office of Institutional Research and Planning reports directly to the President and serves as a resource to the College’s President, Board, Cabinet, Deans and Administration.  The OIRP is accountable for collecting, analyzing and disseminating data both external and internal to the College for use in the decision-making process and insures that historical, current and future College data is structured, organized and accessible. .  The OIRP facilitates the College’s strategic planning process and project feasibility reviews as related to priorities and goals ensuring that institutional decisions are based upon sound financial analysis. 

Responsibilities:  Collect, tabulate and analyze a wide variety of data both internal and external to the College to demonstrate trends, cycles and underlying factors; design reports as appropriate; conduct research as needed to support studies of various offices and committees; collaborate with staff in the development, administration, and analysis of data and prepare reports as required; provide data for completion of the business plan required for proposed new programs, including projection of costs and return on investment; work with Administration in developing measures and indicators for program assessment and cost benefit analysis; ensure that historical, current and future data is stored in a structured and organized manner facilitating accessibility; design and implement systems to improve internal planning, archiving, monitoring and communication of data; coordinate information reporting to federal and state agencies, professional and regional accrediting bodies and publications; coordinate and facilitate College-wide tactical and strategic planning; facilitate the use of data in College planning and decision-making through tabulation and analysis of data, designing reports and preparing graphic presentations; in collaboration with the faculty, facilitate and support the College’s assessment of core competencies and serve as a resource for the budget process as it relates to planning. 

Qualifications: A Master’s degree required; three to five years of progressively responsible experience in institutional research and planning.; high degree of expertise with information technology as well as demonstrated competence with a variety of data management and statistical software packages; experience in outcomes assessment and cost center analysis; competence in statistical and analytical research methods; experience with strategic planning; strong project management, organization and facilitation skills; demonstrated ability to collaborate with Board members, Cabinet, faculty and administrators at all levels; ability to think at the strategic level while performing hands-on research and analysis; understanding of current research trends as well as knowledge of financial/business analysis techniques; and ability to communicate complex information and convey technical information to non-technical personnel.
