27th President’s Cup Golf Tournament Raises Over $60k for Student Scholarships

Over 160 players participated in the 27th Annual President’s Cup Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Friends of Merrimack College, held on June 4 at the Indian Ridge Country Club. The full-day tournament raised over $60,000 for student scholarships. 

The overall winning team from OneSource - Chris Fallon (Salem, NH), Bob Mayo Windham, NH), Steve Fewtrell (Wilmington, MA) and Jeff LeBlanc - won Nike golf and travel equipment. Over 50 local companies sponsored this year’s tournament; three gold sponsors: Demoulas Foundation Phillips Van Heusen Sodexho; and the Hole in One Sponsor: Regan Ford

Event Co-Chairs Fran Ferrara (Andover, MA) and Diane Coletta (Haverhill, MA) led a committee of ten from the Friends of Merrimack Board of Directors. The organization is awarding over $100K in student scholarships for 2008-2009 academic year

The tournament grand prize of tickets for four to Miami including a golf package, airfare, hotel, and tickets to see the Miami Dolphins vs. the New England Patriots, went to John Gregory (Merrimac, MA). Raffle donations were received from an additional 110 local businesses, and proceeds from the raffle/auction topped $14,000.

About Friends of Merrimack College:

The mission of Friends of Merrimack College is to provide scholarship support to deserving Merrimack College students through annual contributions, social and cultural activities, and fundraising programs.  The Friends of Merrimack College organization was formed in 1995 when the Men of Merrimack, founded in 1952, and the Ladies of Merrimack, founded in 1955, joined forces to work together on the common goal of raising funds to support student scholarships.
