New Master of Education Offerings to Advance Teaching Careers
For those looking to start a new career or make themselves more professionally desirable in the current economy, Merrimack College’s Master of Education program is offering opportunities for an advanced degree or teacher licensure. The only requirement is a bachelor’s degree.
New! English As A Second Language, PreK-6, Master Degree Program
An educator who holds the ESL PreK-6 license may:
- Teach as a teacher-of-record in a self-contained classroom in which only Limited English Proficient (LEP) students are enrolled, and which focuses on English language acquisition;
- Teach English language skills (ESL) to small groups of LEP students in “pull-out” settings or in self-contained ESL classrooms. During the remainder of the day, these LEP students would be enrolled with English proficient students in a general education classroom in which they would receive sheltered content instruction;
New! Early Childhood Education, PreK-2, Master Degree Program
This M.Ed. program of study is for candidates who have a bachelor degree and are interested in becoming a teacher, or opening a day care. The candidates in this program are being prepared for the Initial Teaching License in Early Childhood Education, PreK-2.
Courses can be taken for degree credit or licensure, and are offered on campus late afternoon and early evenings, weekends, and in an accelerated format.
