Modern Day Pilgrims Follow the Footsteps of St. Augustine in Italy
Merrimack College pilgrims, consisting of both students, staff, and friends of the College, walked in the footsteps of a saint as they retraced some of what Augustine of Hippo (354-430 AD) experienced while in Italy as a young man.
Sponsored by Merrimack's Center for Augustinian Study and Legacy, Pellegrinaggio in Italia VIII is a contemporary journey into the spirit of St. Augustine of Hippo, and the history and spirituality of the Order of St. Augustine which founded Merrimack College in 1947. Augustine believed in the importance of an endless pursuit of knowledge, love, and service – a principle deeply embedded in the Merrimack mission.
Each day of the journey is dedicated to a specific theme related to St. Augustine's life, his studies, and ultimately to his death. Opportunities are provided for the participants to interact with members of the Order of St. Augustine (Augustinians) in Italy – living and learning through their lifestyle and ministry.
