Merrimack Welcomes Six New Board Members

Merrimack College President Dr. Ronald O. Champagne, on behalf of the College’s Board of Trustees, recently announced the appointment of  six new members of the Board. 

Thomas Carroll of Andover, Mass.

Thomas Carroll has over 25 years of sales/marketing experience in commercial real estate.  He is the founder and president of Realtor Commercial Alliance of Massachusetts, covering over 300 cities and towns. Carroll holds national professional certification in investment analysis of commercial real estate, is a member of the Chairman’s Club of ReMax International, recognizing high sales volume, and is ranked in the top 50 brokers statewide in the Massachusetts Association of Realtors. Carroll’s involvement in the community includes membership and past presidency in the Service Club of Andover, the advisory board for the Andover Coalition for Education, and the Andover Education Space Needs Committee.  He founded the “Carroll Family Scholarship” at Central Catholic High School, a $25,000 scholarship. Carroll is a graduate of Catholic University in Washington, DC.

Michael Crowe ’92 of Winchester, Mass.

Michael graduated from Merrimack College, from Suffolk University Law School, and expects to complete the EO/MIT Entrepreneurial Masters Program in 2010. From 1995-98, he was the managing attorney for Concentra Managed Care, Inc. in Pasadena, Calif., managing client relationships and representing Social Security and Medicare claimants referred by insurance carriers. In 1998, he co-founded Employees Advocacy Group, Inc. and served as the president and managing director.  In 2002, he co-founded Crowe, Paradis & Albren, serving as managing partner, and also serves as CEO of Crowe Paradis Holding Company, LLC and Crowe Paradis Services Corp., LLC, businesses in the area of boutique employee benefit advocacy services.  He is the former deputy treasurer of the Massachusetts Democratic Party and served as the finance chair for Congressman Martin Meehan.  He is a member in good standing of both the Massachusetts and the California Bar Associations, a member of the Executive Board of the Disability Employers Management Coalition, and a member of the National Association of Medicare Set-Aside Professionals.

Karl Gladstone H'91 of North Andover, Mass.

Karl Gladstone is the owner of KG Associates, LLC, a property management company based in Andover, Mass. He has been a charter member of the Billerica Elks for 50 years, a member of the Burlington Masonic Lodge for 45 years, the Grid Iron Club of Greater Boston for 40 years, and an honorary member of the Lawrence Rotary Club.  Gladstone also has an honorary doctorate degree from Merrimack College, where he served on the Board of Trustees and is a lifetime member of the President’s Council in recognition of his generosity. Gladstone served on the Caritas Holy Family Foundation Committee as trustee; as a Board of Director on the Foundation Committee at Saints Medical Center in Lowell, as well as the Northern Essex Community College Board of Trustees, and the Greater Lawrence Boating Program Board of Trustees. He has served on other boards and has helped raise millions of dollars for many other organizations in the Merrimack Valley area. Gladstone’s daughter and two granddaughters are graduates of Merrimack College.

Brian Kozik ’78 of Tewksbury, Mass.

Brian Kozik is currently the director of compliance and business integrity at North Shore Medical Center, the second largest community hospital in Massachusetts.  He is a certified compliance and ethics professional and is certified in healthcare compliance.  He earned a B.S. from Merrimack College and a certificate of accountancy from Bentley College. Kozik is the first president of the new Merrimack College Alumni Association.  He has contributed a considerable amount of time and energy to alumni affairs over the past several years in various leadership positions. He understands his role as a critical link between the College and the Alumni Association, and has demonstrated a willingness to achieve the many goals that have been set by the new alumni association.

William Leahy ’76 of Windham, N.H.

William Leahy is vice president, Atlantic Region at AT&T Inc. in Boston, MA.  The Atlantic Region comprises 12 states, from Maine to Virginia, as well as the District of Columbia. Leahy has responsibility for all legislative, regulatory, governmental and external affairs activities in the region. Leahy has over 25 years experience in the telecommunications industry, beginning his career as a management trainee with New England Telephone. He has held various positions at AT&T Companies in financial analysis, marketing, and government affairs management. He serves on the board of directors of The New England Council, The Massachusetts Network Communications Council, the Associated Industries of Massachusetts, and the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce.  He also serves on the advisory board of the Girard School of Business and International Commerce at Merrimack College and the Massachusetts Business Alliance for Education. Leahy holds a B.A. from Merrimack College, and a M.B.A. from UMass-Amherst. He is also a senior lecturer of mathematics at Boston University.

Andrea Robertson ’79 of Stamford, Conn.

Andrea Robertson is a finance executive with technical, leadership and people management skills. She has a broad background in finance, including expertise in Treasury, and experience in financial planning, pricing and auditing.  She received her B.S. from Merrimack College and was the class valedictorian. She earned an M.B.A. in finance/management information systems from the University of Chicago where she was named a Henry Ford II Scholar for outstanding academic achievement. Andrea is currently a group executive/corporate treasurer for MasterCard Worldwide in Purchase, N.Y. where she leads their global treasury activities, including corporate finance, settlement, customer credit risk, and enterprise risk management.
