Merrimack Beautifying Front Lawn of Collegiate Church
North Andover, MA (August 2008) – An ongoing beautification project is transforming the lawn area in front of the Collegiate Church of Christ the Teacher at Merrimack College.
Recently, the trees lining the walkway leading from the church were removed due to disease and the walkway itself was taken up because of wear. New foliage and a walkway are being installed, and new light posts were added to illuminate the new walkway.
In addition to removing unhealthy foliage, the tree removal opens up the area and highlights the Collegiate Church, as well as the Christ the Teacher statue.
This project also offers an opportunity for the College to honor the late Rev. Thomas Kenney, O.S.A , who originally had the trees planted as part of his commitment to campus beautification. New shrubbery will be partially supported by contributions in honor of Fr. Kenney.
This is an ongoing beautification project for the area surrounding the Church and will continue throughout the summer and into the fall.
