Update on Dining Hall Makeover
Students will not recognize the newly renovated Crossroads Cafe this fall. The upgraded dining hall location resembles an upscale dining facility and boasts amazing offerings including:
- An allergy-free food preparation area for students who have adverse reactions to certain foods or ingredients;
- A fair-trade coffee bar where a percent of the proceeds go to a stop hunger organization;
- A local food item will be highlighted, and dishes will be made with that local selection. Educational information about the food will also be on display;
- A variety of seating offers modern tables and chairs, or soft contemporary booths reminiscent of restaurant seating;
- The Warrior's Den, a small cafe-style eatery, has also been completely renovated.

More on Merrimack's New Dining Hall:
• The dining hall makeover will provide a brand new serving and dining area including modern finishes, new colors, a wide variety of seating options; and serving area expanding into the seating area to place the food center stage;
• The equipment for each food platform will be enhanced so the culinary team will be ready to provide for the ever changing tastes of students;
• The new Warrior’s Den space will offer a full espresso program, new menu offerings and an improved gathering space with additional seating options.
The Food
• The top three attributes in priority order: convenience, nutrition, and variety;
• The top three food preferences: Italian, American home-style, and American fast food;
• Guests responded that they are looking for the following foods on a weekly basis: cold deli (wraps), hot deli (paninis, pizza, calzone), and pasta.
The dining hall makeover wouldn't be complete without a name change to reflect the new look. As students return to campus, Dining Services and Residence Life will co-sponsor a contest to rename the dining area. The contest will last approximately two weeks beginning immediately as students return to campus.
Entry forms will be available on the dining hall Web site, in both Crossroads Café and the Warriors Den, and in the dining services office. The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges representing Dining Services, Residence Life, and the Office of the President. The winner will be recognized at the grand opening ceremony tentatively scheduled for September 15, 2009, and will receive $150 in dining meal points.
