Build the Best Egg Catapult, Win a Scholarship

Wanted: Innovative students who can build a catapult that can throw an egg into a frying pan up to 60 feet away. The Prize: A $15,000 per year (max. four years) scholarship to study civil engineering at Merrimack College.

For the fourth consecutive year, high school juniors and seniors from across New England are encouraged to design and build a Trebuchet-style (www.trebuchet.com) catapult for Merrimack College’s Egg Catapult Competition.

Students will then bring their catapult to the Merrimack campus to be put to the test during ThinkFest on March 20, 2010 - a festival-style event for grades 6-12 featuring design challenges and science and technology live demonstrations.

The winner of the scholarship to study civil engineering at Merrimack will be announced during ThinkFest.

Catapult Design Registration Deadline: Sunday, February 14, 2010

Date of Competition: Saturday, March 20, 2010

Eligibility: Participants must be enrolled in 11th or 12th grade; be qualified for acceptance to Merrimack College; and maintain a minimum 2.8 GPA while at Merrimack to retain the yearly scholarship.
